Using visual imagery to write your stories

A recording from Sheri Handel and Beckett Johnson's live video

Thank you Aimee Liu, Sherry Taveras, Nisa Opalla, Wen, Michael Patrick, and many others for tuning into my live video with Beckett Johnson!

We apologize for the late start due to technical difficulties and appreciate your patience

Beckett shared his backstory, the different media he works in, and the different processes he follows to incorporate those into his creative output, whether that is in prose, photographs, or drawings.

I also got the goods on how he came up with this gem:

A cat, folded into my chest like a small, vibrating moon. Peppermint coffee steaming in a mug that’s seen some things.

We also talked about my process for using photographs as inspiration and to generate story ideas.

Next week, on Monday, January 26, I’ll be running a free 45-minute “Storytelling Boost with Images” introductory workshop on using images as part of your toolkit.
